Partnering with a Funder to Provide Capacity Building for Food Systems and Farm Animal Welfare Leaders

We partnered with a major philanthropic leader in the food systems and farmed animal welfare movement to design and deliver a tailored capacity building initiative for a cohort of their grantee partners. Recognizing that many of these organizations are led by visionary and passionate leaders but under-resourced when it came to strategy, management, and development infrastructure, we created a series of immersive and highly practical workshops focused on core skills—ranging from fundraising to messaging to organizational leadership. Each session was designed to be immediately applicable, grounded in the real-world challenges these organizations face.

Following the workshop series, the funder partnered with us to offer one-on-one coaching to leaders in the cohort, creating space for deeper reflection, problem-solving, and application of workshop tools to their unique contexts. This combination of group learning and individualized support helped grantees build internal capacity, strengthen their organizational foundations, and move forward with greater clarity and confidence. The funder’s investment in this kind of wraparound support not only deepened trust with grantee partners, but also demonstrated the power of pairing funding with meaningful capacity-building to accelerate impact across an entire field.
